Have you heard about the ISO 55000 on Asset Management?
This standard provides guidance on how to implement and manage an efficient and reliable asset management system. It might not come as a surprise but asset information is a central piece of the puzzle.
We observe that often asset information strategies focus on structured data (e.g. SCADA data), but the importance of unstructured data is often under-appreciated. The 55000-series lists the type of information that requires attention and this also includes numerous sources of unstructured information: technical and asset physical properties, contract management, maintenance management, etc.
Asset information strategies must not only include what information needs to be captured, but also include requirements like:
- What quality, reliability and completeness of asset information are expected;
- Required competency to correctly collect, interpret, utilise, and report information;
- Alignment of information requirements for the different levels and functions within the organisation.
ISO 55 000 is a crucial input on how Aevy is looking to extract, process and deliver your asset information. Availability of complete quality insights from an assets unstructured data is itself part of the value of your asset. Is your organisation looking to adhere to some best practices from this standard? We’re curious to hear your take on it.
